Walking in an autumn wonderland

Today was the first *real* snow  (what we had before didn’t count). I spent the day making applesauce, then walked to the post office (the driveway is impassable for my little truck).

Three stages of apple sauce

The apples get more done clockwise from left. Sadly, the upper-left-hand pot got neglected and the apples within burned. I’ve still got about 8 quarts of apple sauce, though, so it wasn’t a devastating loss. I also made an apple-upside-down spice cake from my imagination. It’s pretty good, if a little gooey.

Wet cake

The land is beautiful with its white coverlet, and Ayla is totally enraptured by the snow.

How beautiful! It seems so home-y there, with applesauce cooking, cake baking and snow everywhere on the ground. Wish I could be there with you! I’m there in spirit – no really, I’m actually there. Can’t you sense me hovering right above your head? Admit it, you looked up to check. 🙂 Love you.
